Dr Mark McCombe
Dr Mark F. McCombe studied medicine at the University of Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital. He obtained his post graduate qualification in ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. After completing specialist training he undertook fellowships in diseases and surgery of the retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Dr McCombe is currently working as a consultant ophthalmologist and retinal specialist in the surgical and medical retinal clinics at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. He has a special interest in diabetic eye disease, eye trauma, age related macula degeneration and vitreoretinal surgery. He is also currently Clinical Director of Ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.
He is co-author of the NHMRC Publication of Diabetic Eye Disease. He has been active in the affairs of RANZCO (Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists), having been both a state and federal councillor and has been involved in the organisation of the RANZCO National Conference on a number of occasions.
Dr McCombe also has an interest in medico legal work pertaining to ophthalmology and has undertaken the AMA Guidelines course for assessment of impairment.
