Dr Edward Roufail
Dr Edward Roufail is an experienced Ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in vitreoretinal surgery.
He completed his Ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and this was followed by several years of subspecialty training in vitreo retinal surgery in Auckland, Nottingham and Melbourne.
Prior to undertaking his ophthalmology training he completed a PhD in medicine at the University of Melbourne. This work resulted in the attainment of several international grants and publications in international peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Roufail is currently working as an ophthalmologist and retinal specialist in the surgical retina unit of the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital where he is involved in teaching of local and international trainees, research and continuing medical education.
He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of a full range of medical and surgical retina conditions including retinal detachments, diabetic eye disease, age related macular degeneration, full thickness macula hole, epi retinal membranes, ocular trauma and complicated cataract surgery.
Dr Roufail is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand college of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retina Specialists (ANZSRS), the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and the European Society of Retina Specialists.
